Abstract

Recent observations made to assess threats faced by the star tortoise (Geochelone elegans) in the North West part of the country (Battulu Oya, Udappuwa, Puttalam, Kalpitiya, Eluwankulam, Wilpattu) showed that recent use of home made brush-mover to clear the undergrowth has and will be a big threat to the star tortoise. Several tortoises get completely cut into pieces due to the brush-mover
