GLOBAL WARMING: AN ICEBERG AT MANY REASONS
Authors: M.G.C.SooriyabandaraGlobal warming has attracted the attention of total global community as research findings have successfully proved and relevant treaties viz. UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol and Montreal Protocol, have successfully interpreted the consequential negative impacts. This situation reiterates the need and urgency of leaping beyond the present progress reoriented with novel approaches. This paper reviews the present situation using available data and information and put forward a few approaches that are deviationsto the present. Centralized power generation, high priority to multi annual industrial plantations in carbon sequestration, carbon management through overhauled trading and multiple criteria for classifying parties of pertinent treaties are highlighted in this context.
