AN ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF LIMACODIDAE (LEPIDOPTERA:ZYGAENOIDEA) OF SRI LANKA

Abstract

A checklist of Sri Lankan Limacodidae (Lepidoptera) based on previous studies from 1892 to date is provided. A total of 32 species from 14 genera are listed in the fauna of Sri Lanka. Of these species, 15 are known only from Sri Lanka. Current knowledge on the taxonomy, evolutionary relationships, distribution and conservation of the moths of Sri Lanka is still limited and scattered. Thus we suggest more intensive surveys to acquire comprehensive data on the moths of Sri Lanka.
